About Us

HUHA – is an extension of Pakuratahi Farm Animal Sanctuary.

Pakuratahi Farm Animal Sanctuary is a safe haven and rehoming centre for injured, neglected and abused animals. It is a place where all animals are treated with respect and compassion, where they are promised to new life free of small cages, chains, boredom, ignorance and other forms of abuse.

The Sanctuary is constantly growing and has many animals in its care. Ideally animals are rehomed carefully back into loving families within the community, but for those with medical problems, emotional issues or maybe just nowhere else suitable to go, they will become permanent residents at the sanctuary for the duration of their precious lives.

Education The Sanctuary, a 14 acre paradise based in Wellington is run by Husband and wife team Jim & Carolyn Press McKenzie.

"The reality is that thousands of animals from around New Zealand every year need our help. We are just one small facility doing our very best, but we feel it is up to society to start taking responsibility.
